Fast train from France

We took the Thalys high speed train from Paris to Belgium. This worked very well until the train broke down 30 minutes into the trip. A new engine was brought and we arrived in Brussels 2 1/2 hours late. Our friends Alice and Antoni were left waiting for us at the train station the whole time with their young baby.

We then made the trip by train and car to their small village of Grandvoir.

The following day the children and I made the trip to see Charteau Fort de Bouillon in the small somewhat touristic (but very beautiful) town of Bourillon.

Their young daughter was so happy to see more of the world while keeping close to mommy.

The fort/castle was very nice. The pictures do not do it justice. We have been to several castles which look very pretty from the outside but do not really have very much to offer the visitor besides a couple of empty rooms.

This castle is the real deal with torture chambers, dungeons and a huge amount of fortifcations. 3 draw bridges and dark recesses for guards to hide. The crusaders of old were an agressive and highly violent group.

It's so great to see Alice and Antoni and their beautiful little one. Did they ever make a book of their travels--those were some amazing pictures.
